Places in Qatar - Al Safliya Island

Enjoy a day in the middle of the sea, hit the beach on Al Safliya Island.   Al Safliya Island offers the most stunning view of the skyline and the Doha West Bay. It is the ideal place to relax, bask in the sun and spend your day off with family and friends away from the city noise. The island is nestled south of the Pearl Qatar and is about 19 kms away from Doha. The best way to get to the island is to get in touch with the local boat or tour operator in Qatar. These guides offer a dhow boat or speed boat for the island which leaves from the pearl or Corniche and cover the distance in 10 minutes and 30 minutes respectively. Dhow Boats have air-conditioned cabins and toilets. The cheapest tour I can recommend to get to the island is by Qatar International Tours . For only Qr169/pp you get to enjoy the ride on the traditional Qatari Dhow while soft music is being played in harmony with waves of the sea. The activities will start after anchoring at the island. It varies from jet s

Places in Qatar - Khor Al Udaid (Inland Sea)

About a hundred kilometers Southwest of Doha lies Khor Al Udaid. A patch of sea surrounded by long streches of sand dunes located near the Qatar and Saudi Arabian border. It is a part of the Persian Gulf and is a popular place for Expats and locals alike to spend the weekend with their family and friends. Witnessing the sunset there was breathtaking. However, it takes a sand dune buggy ride to get there. Go with experienced off-road drivers or you could end up stuck, lost or both. A number of companies organise trips in 4x4's including Qatar International Tours offering either a half day trip for Qr100 or a full day for Qr159. Combined with a Desert Camp visit where you can enjoy swimming, a game of beach volleyball, relax along the beach to enjoy the view, BBQ buffet and camp activities, complete with bathroom facilities. There is also a private tour that offers a flexible option like an overnight tour package with a free pictorial. For Qr159 per person (minimum of 4 persons per

SSS - OFW Guide

The Social Security System (SSS) is the protection that society provides against the economic hardships caused by life’s contingencies such as sickness, maternity, disability, old age, and death. I have been a member of the Social Security System (SSS) since 2008. Initially, my contributions depended on the deductions made by my employer from my salary, which ranged from around 100-400 pesos monthly. However, when I started working abroad in 2010, I changed my contribution status to Voluntary as advised by my father. Currently, I have made a total of 157 contributions, which entitle me to certain benefits such as a two-year loan repayment period. As an SSS member, one can rely on the SSS to provide financial support and assistance in times of emergencies or life’s contingencies, whether in the form of cash allowances, pensions, or loans. It is important, however, to regularly and actively pay your contributions to ensure eligibility for the benefits and loan programs offered by the SSS
